Message from the President

by Jackie Schoch

If you missed the Purim celebration you really missed a great event. This was our largest Purim party so far. It was really great to see all the costumes. If it keeps growing we just might have to do something outside. Stay tuned!

Did you enjoy your Hamantaschen? Oh you forgot to order them this year, well you will have to wait until next year. I have to say this was the best ever. The ladies made 80 dozen this year.

As our congregation is growing there are lots of things that you as a member can do to help. The only paid person we have is the Rabbi. We have a cleaning company that comes once a month to mop the floors. It would help a lot after the oneg on Saturday and Sunday if the floors are swept. Did you know that extra toilet paper is kept in the closet of both men and women bathrooms? So if you notice that a roll is getting low, please put a new one in the stall. This synagogue belongs to everyone and it needs everyone to take care of it.

Please take notice to the 10 new wool tallitot (prayer shawls) that we have on the shawl rack. This is the first time that we have been able to buy our own tallitot. The ones we have were donated to us.
Next year we will be celebrating 25 years. If you would like to be on the 25th Anniversary Committee please let me know either by email grammysglassgarden@gmail.com or call me at 301-567-6760. This should be a great celebration.

May 10th we will have our Annual Membership Meeting and elections for President, Secretary and Financial Secretary. Job descriptions for each position are posted in this newsletter. It will also be on our web site. Please be thinking and praying about these positions and when somebody from the Nomination Committee calls you, please say Yes.

Check out the newsletter for more information on things that are happening at Congregation Sha’are Shalom and come join us.

Shalom, Jackie
