President’s Message

President’s Message
Mike Green

The main “new business” item at the May 8th General Membership meeting is the election of President and Secretary. In the words of Lyndon Baines Johnson (LBJ), “I will not seek, nor shall I accept, another term as your president.” Thank you all for giving me the opportunity to serve you in this important leadership position.

Unlike LBJ, I won’t be retiring to a ranch in Texas and staying out of the public eye. I’ll be assuming the highly sought after congregational post of immediate past president, and will therefore still be serving on the Board. I’m also going to be the immediate past president of Davis Middle School’s PTO. I’m not seeking an additional presidential term at Sha’are Shalom or at Davis because I’m being called to try something even more political than these two organizations! I’ve been thinking about running for a spot on the Charles County School Board for some time, and while I haven’t yet filed to run, I think it is likely that I will. Clearly if I run and am successful in winning, this will require a time commitment that would make it impossible for me to serve in any other capacity. If I do run, I hope many of you will actively support my candidacy – you can count on me asking for your help.

Shalom,
MRG (Michael Rubin Green)
