It has been 71 years since Nazi concentration camps were liberated and the Holocaust that claimed six million Jewish lives came to an end. To ensure that the six million did not die in vain and that the Holocaust never happens again, we must ensure that the memory of that terrible event is not forgotten.
NEVER AGAIN: “To forget would not only be dangerous but offensive; to forget the dead would be akin to killing them a second time… not only are we responsible for the memories of the dead, we are also responsible for what we are doing with those memories. For the dead and the living we must bear witness.”
− Holocaust Survivor Elie Wesiel
Sha’are Shalom will bear witness by inviting everyone to our Holocaust Remembrance Program, Saturday, May 7, at 7 pm. We are fortunate to have Michel Margosis as our speaker for the evening. Michel’s father was a police official in Russia until he was deported to Siberia for being an outspoken Zionist. After escaping, his father and mother went to Belgium; Michel was born in Brussels. Michel was 11 years old when England and France declared war on Germany because the Germans invaded Poland. Michel’s early life included a short stay in a detention camp in France and over a year hiding on a farm. Come on May 7 to hear “the rest of the story.”
