Memorial and Mitzvah Boards

Have you noticed the Memorial Board in the sanctuary and the Mitzvah Board in our lobby? Have you thought I’d like to have a plaque remembering a loved one or a special occasion. Well you can! For a donation of $100 we will have a plaque installed on the appropriate board for you. Currently Lee Weinberger is the point of contact for having a plaque made and mounted. Send the following information, along with your check payable to Sha’are Shalom, to him at the synagogue or to his home at 4826 Bryantown Rd., Waldorf, MD 20601-4240.

For a Memorial Plaque

Provide the person’s name, Hebrew name (optional), Date of death (English and Hebrew).
If you don’t know the Hebrew date, Lee has a perpetual calendar and can look it up. He will need to know if the passing was before or after sundown.

Note that the Yahrzeit date for a Jewish person is based on the Hebrew date of death; for a non-Jewish person the Yahrzeit date is usually based on the English date.

In addition to the Yahrzeit being published in our newsletter and read at the appropriate service, the congregant receives a personal notice of the upcoming Yahrzeit.

For a Mitzvah Plaque

Provide the occasion that is being celebrated or honored, the name of the honoree, and date of the occasion.
