Message from the President

As I am sitting here in front of my computer on the eve of Yom Kippur I am thinking what I want to see happen at Congregation Sha’are Shalom. In case you were not at Rosh Hashanah I gave the following talk.

“So here we are, again, on the threshold of a New Year, and of this 10 day journey with which we start our New Year. A time to reflect and look back; a time to pause and assess where we are, before we step forward into that great, unknown we call the future.
I don’t know what you think about as you sit here today and think back over the past year what private thoughts go through your head but certain images will probably come to mind. Some of the images and memories may bring a glow to the
heart: it might be some of your achievements and successes, at home or at work, or family events, accomplishments, celebrations, or a holiday enjoyed, or friendships made or renewed.
As we all sit here in our synagogue and start another year in our building, just think about what you would like to see happen here, what changes you want and WHAT CAN YOU/I DO TO HELP MAKE THIS SYNAGOGUE A BETTER PLACE.”

As your President of Congregation Sha’are Shalom I am asking you to make a difference and become more involved. Take a position and become more involved in making OUR Synagogue a better place.

During the High Holidays is a time for giving to others and this year we will be doing our Food Drive from September 8th to October 7th. This is our annual event and we will be collecting non-
perishable items. So please every time you visit the synagogue bring items for the Food Drive. This year there will be a table as you come into the synagogue.

Check out the newsletter for more information on things that are happening at Sha’are Shalom and come and join us.

Shalom, Jackie
