“What to Get Me for Hanukkah”
Hanukkah begins on the night of December 6 this year. I just know that as you all are reading this, you are getting stressed out over what to get me for Hanukkah. So I’m going to help you out with some suggestions.
On the first night of Hanukkah, my congregation gave to me one night where you each come out to the Menorah Lighting in La Plata and hear Valerie Holt and Jasha Levenson performing Hanukkah songs on December 6. (See Page 1 for details.)
On the second night of Hanukkah, my congregation gave to me two notes in the Suggestion Box at Temple: one with something you like that we are doing, and one with something you’d like changed.
On the third night of Hanukkah, my congregation gave to me three food items for our Children’s Aid collection boxes in the lobby.
On the fourth night of Hanukkah, my congregation gave to me four coins in our Tzedakah (charity) box in the Temple lobby.
On the fifth night of Hanukkah, my congregation gave to me five fingers raised in a “high five,” next time you see me.
On the sixth night of Hanukkah, my congregation gave to me six rolls of toilet paper for our Children’s Aid collection boxes in the lobby.
On the seventh night of Hanukkah, my congregation gave to me seven latkes eaten at the congregational Hanukkah Party on December 12.
On the eight night of Hanukkah, my congregation gave to me eight reasons why you love Sha’are Shalom. Take a few minutes and write them down. You don’t need to give them to me, although you can.
May the lights of the Hanukkah candles burn brightly in your heart and may they bring joy, happiness and many blessings to you and your families.
