It is hard to believe that this is the last month of 2013. Where has the year gone?
Just a friendly reminder that an email was sent to “Members Only” from me and I would like your response ASAP. Send your response to [email protected].
I have to say the Semi-annual Membership Meeting that was held on Saturday, November 9th after services, the attendance was low. I usually don’t say anything about the attendance but we had information that the membership should know and make some suggestions for the Board. The next Membership meeting will be in May and that is a very important meeting. At this meeting you will be electing a President, Secretary and a Financial Secretary. Please be thinking and praying about these positions so when the Nomination Committee calls to ask you if you would like to run for office hopefully you will say YES.
The “Walk to End Homelessness” on Saturday November 16, 2013 was great. The weather was perfect for a walk and this year it was a new route which was nice. This walk benefits the Safe Nights Program in which houses of Worship offer food and shelter to homeless residents.
If you missed hearing Rabbi Gustav Buchdahl, Scholar in Residence, on Nov. 16th you missed a great time and a wonderful pot-luck dinner. Hopefully we will be able to have him back in the summer, so stay tuned.
I just want to say what a great Chanukah Party we had on Sunday, November 24th. There was a lot of food and of course fun time by everyone young and old. One of our not so young member started crying for joy seeing the children dancing to the Jewish music. This is one of the reasons why we are here for the children of Congregation Sha’are Shalom.
I have to say “Waffle Heaven” was a big hit. Don’t worry, it will be back at the New Members Brunch on December 8th at 12 noon, so don’t forget to RSVP.
Check out the newsletter for more information on things that are happening at Sha’are Shalom and come join us.
Shalom,
Jackie
