I want to extend my congratulations to Madelene Weinberger, who was confirmed by the members as the new Financial Secretary, replacing Tammie Trank through next fiscal year; to Nancy Gould, who was elected to serve a second two-year term as Vice President; and to Jackie Schoch, who was elected to serve a new two-year term as Treasurer. I thank them all for volunteering their time and energy to help manage our Congregation.
I congratulate the members, who at the June Membership Meeting agreed to make our collections for the Charles County Children’s Aid Society a year-round effort. As such, we will have the collection box in the foyer all year long. Your donations of clothing, non-perishable food, school supplies, new toys and monetary donations make all the difference in the life of a less fortunate child. At my first temple in Rochester, New York, most congregants brought a can of food with them each time they came to temple.
I also want to congratulate all the children of our Religious School for completing another year of instruction. Never before have I witnessed such a high level of energy and enthusiasm in a group of students for learning about and participating in Judaism. One can’t help but feeling proud and confident in the future as we observe the next generation of congregants.
Finally, I want to congratulate all of our Congregation Sha’are Shalom members who have chosen to be a part of our sacred community.
By your support of our temple, you have demonstrated to your children and to the community that Judaism and Sha’are Shalom are important to you. We are grateful for your membership and your support. Enjoy your summer and come see us often.
