What a beautiful time of the year. The warming temperatures and the Spring rains are coaxing all sorts of lovely flowers out of the soil. Many trees are in full bloom while others are growing a new crop of leaves. No matter how much I study the science of it all, I still think it’s one big miracle. A new beginning.
Here at Sha’are Shalom, we too are getting ready for a new beginning. In August, Beverly Hoy and I will be completing our elected terms of office as Secretary and President, respectively. I have appointed a Nominating Committee, which was approved by the Board, to identify suitable candidates for these offices. The candidates will be presented to the membership at the June membership meeting. Candidates may also be nominated from the floor.
Who will be our leaders for the next two years? What changes will they make? What direction will they take us? What part will you play in this wonderful adventure? This is your chance to make a difference. Your chance to try out those ideas you’ve been kicking around for all these years. When the folks on the Nominating Committee call you, please consider taking a turn in leading our Congregation.
We’re already in the second half of our fiscal year. Purim, Pesach, Hot Shabbat, Congregational Picnic and then the year will be over. Come September the new Board begins to implement their plans. You’ll want to be part of it. If I were you, I wouldn’t wait for the Nominating Committee to call. Give me a call today and I’ll put your name at the top of the list.
