Religious School Update

Mazel Tov to our most recent Bar Mitzvah Jonah Casebeer and the entire Casebeer family, you all did a wonderful job! Thanks to Mitzvah Catering, the Men’s Club, and all those that helped at the event. A special thanks to Jonah Richmond for his help during the service and for bringing his turntable and teaching us some Israeli dances, it was a blast!

As religious school principal, I am sourcing for in-terest, ideas, and volunteers for a Sha’are Shalom Youth Group. My initial thoughts would be for students grades 7-12 to meet once a month on Sundays, join the religious school for the family service, and then study a variety of Jewish subjects and social action based on their interests. Once we have our new spiritual leader, another option may be to meet after our “2nd Saturday” services and be part of the adult education we hope to start later this year. If you have a student you would like to enroll or are interested in volunteering to lead the group, or per-haps teach a single lesson, or help organize a social ac-tion event, please email smailto:[email protected]

The religious school is also looking for volunteer teachers for next year‟s K-1 class. Subjects include Bi-ble stories, holidays, arts & crafts, songs, and an intro-duction to the alef-bet. No experience is necessary and teaching materials can be provided. If you are interested please email [email protected]

Religious School is held Sundays at 9am. There is a family service, open to the congregation, which lasts from 9-10am and then two class sessions which cover prayer based Hebrew and Jewish Studies. New students are welcome any time throughout the year.
