Scholar In Residence Comes to Sha’are Shalom

You don’t want to miss this event. Rabbi Gustav Buchdahl will be visiting us November 16th. The Rabbi has been teaching Judaic Courses on college campuses for over 40 years and is currently teaching at the University of Maryland/Baltimore Campus. He was given the title Rabbi Emeritus at Tempe Emanuel after serving as their Rabbi for 37 years. The Rabbi will be speaking about “The Jewish Romance with Food.”

Speaking of food, we will begin the evening with a pot luck dinner at 5 pm and Rabbi Buchdahal’s talk will start promptly at 6:15. Following is a sample of what you will hear “Jews have always had a special relationship with food. Abraham hosted a banquet; Esau lost the promise land for a plate of lentils. Is there a difference between kreplach, won ton and Ravioli?”

There is no charge for this event: however, we are requesting reservations. Please email or call Madelene, [email protected] or 301-374-6762. Let her know how many will be coming and what you will bring for the pot luck.

The pot luck will be a dairy meal and we are requesting salads, desserts, rolls or drinks.

Don’t miss this rare Sha’are Shalom Event!!
