Spaghetti Dinner and Auction

Madelene Weinberger
This was the most successful, one event, fund raiser in the history of Sha’are Shalom. The Women’s Group would like to thank everyone that supported the activity, whether it was coming to the dinner, donating items, or bidding.
We ended up with a program of 31 items and services. We were a little concerned that the program was too long and people would get bored, but that certainly was not the case. The bidding was lively from the very first item and continued all the way through. After a while some of us started feeling a little sorry for Jackie, she was bidding on just about everything and getting nothing. It was a lot of fun watching Randy’s face as she kept bidding.
Our members are very talented and it showed in the items donated. We had beautiful quilts – Sandy Blake; a dinner for four – Elaine McVinney; a tea for six – Sandy Blake; two stained glass pieces – Jackie Schoch; three photographs – Lee Weinberger; a 20 minute custom made photo DVD – Jasha Levenson; a chocolate bar cake – Lynn Weinberger and a cheesecake – Ellen Cohen, plus numerous other items, such as a condo in Williamsburg for the weekend by Suzanne Darby.
We were especially pleased to receive donations from non-members. For example, the Silberman Dental Group donated a “teeth whitening”.
Michael Green did a great job as the auctioneer, so did Jackie as the co-chair for the dinner and Michele Uhler as co-chair for the auction.

TOGETHER WE DID A GREAT JOB ! !
Not only was the evening fun and profitable but prior to the auction, the Board voted to donate 15% of the evening’s profits to the URJ Haiti Relief Fund.
