How to Sponsor an Oneg

Most people don’t volunteer to sponsor onegs because they don’t know what to do. Here are the three simple steps to setting up an oneg:
Before Services
• Purchase the challah, juice, and any other treats
• Arrive 15 minutes before services to set up the coffee maker and set out food platters
• Set out the cups for the wine and juice
After Services
• Pour the wine and juice for the kiddush
• Set out the challah and other treats
• Set out the cups, plates, and napkins
After the Oneg
• Make sure that all utensils and dishes are clean and put away
• Clean and put away the coffee maker, sugar and creamer
• Sweep and clean the floor as necessary
Sponsoring an Oneg is considered an honor. You might want to pick a birthday or anniversary month. Setting up and cleaning up is your responsibility but we all help as you have seen in the past. Please contact Elaine at 301-283-3427 or
